My Approach
As a counsellor, I have knowledge and understanding to work in a trauma-based way, with a background in supporting clients who have survived abuse and sexual violence. This means that I can support you to work through past traumatic events and move towards a sense of safety through gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and how past events may have shaped your current lived experience. Since 2022, I have worked with a charity who support survivors of abuse called Trust House Lancashire. Within this role, I have built a wealth of experience in supporting individuals who present with symptoms of trauma such as flashbacks, panic attacks, EUPD, chronic anxiety, self-harm and poor self-care to name but a few. I understand how challenging it can be to get through the door for a first session, therefore, my priority will be to ensure that you feel comfortable and secure within the therapeutic environment and counselling relationship.

I am person-centred at the core, this means my aim is to offer a compassionate, empathic space free from judgement to enable individuals to share their own personal history with any mental or emotional struggles. Person-centred therapy is non-directive, in other words, you will be offered the space to explore any current presenting issues that you may have within your life. I have a very gentle approach, and we will move at your pace to ensure that you feel safe, heard and empowered.
Finding the right counsellor is like finding a comfortable pair of shoes. Different approaches suit different people. I offer an initial 20-minute, no fee and no obligation consultation either over the telephone or via video call. This initial chat is an opportunity to gain a sense of whether the relationship will be the right fit for you. Individual counselling is then £60 per 1-hour session. Walking and talking is £65 per 1-hour session. I am based in the Lancaster and Morecambe area (hence, 'the bay therapist'). Concessions can be offered for students, blue light workers or people experiencing financial hardship.
