About Me

I have a calm, compassionate nature and feel it is important to show kindness to everybody I meet. It is my natural empathy which inspired my career path to become a qualified psychotherapist when a close friend suggested 'why don't you give this a go'. I took my first step into the realm of counselling when completing an 'Introduction to Counselling Skills' course with the University of Cumbria, and I recall  connecting with the philosophy that humans can grow into their authentic self's through offering genuine care and a space free from judgement. This connection with the Person-centred approach was strengthened even more so when undergoing my own course of personal counselling as part of my own mental health journey.

I love the outdoors, and I advocate  for prescribing a connection with nature to improve mental and emotional wellbeing. I have witnessed  first hand the benefits of working therapeutically outdoors such as at Mind Over Mountains wellbeing retreats and the impact on my own mental health in getting out rambling, fell-running and wild swimming, usually in the lake district (Great Langdale being my favorite spot).

Before life as a counsellor, I gained extensive experience in residential support work. This type of work strongly influenced my passion for equality of opportunity through gaining insight into the daily life's of others who may be considered more vulnerable, and building relationships with adults and children with neuro-developmental needs such as Autism, ADHD and Downs Syndrome. Thus, I aim to make my private practice as accessible as possible and welcome feedback on how this may be achieved better. I welcome enquiries from all back grounds regardless of  race, gender, ethnicity, neuro-developmental need or financial situation.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical standards.

Thank you in advance for getting in touch to begin our counselling journey together, I know how difficult the first step can be and I look forward to meeting you.
